Trine University celebrated the dedication of the Dr. Earl D. and Melanie N. Brooks College of Health Professions during a recent ceremony. The facility, which spans 110,000 square feet, marks the largest building project in Trine's history and signifies a major investment in the future of healthcare education in the region.
The new building, located on 43 acres adjacent to the Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind, features advanced classrooms and laboratories designed to foster hands-on learning. Highlights of the facility include a Simulated Patient Care Center (SimCenter), mock surgery and emergency room suites, as well as dedicated simulated exam and patient rooms, providing students with invaluable real-world training experiences.
In addition to educational resources, students have access to a library, a self-checkout nutrition center, gathering spaces, academic support services, and counseling resources.
The Brooks College of Health Professions was designed by Design Collaborative and constructed by MKS Construction.
"Trine University made a significant investment in much needed healthcare training and services in our community," said Tim Terman, Partner and Senior Architect at Design Collaborative. "This facility will strengthen the region’s medical workforce for years to come."
The facility has the capacity to employ 100 faculty and staff and serve nearly 700 students. Through a partnership with Parkview Health, Parkview employees will receive ongoing training opportunities, ensuring that current and future healthcare professionals are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
