Old Buildings Get New Life

Posted

Indiana Landmarks, a nonprofit dedicated to saving historic places and revitalizing communities, shares some examples of Indiana buildings that have been renovated and repurposed for new business.

Former Marion National Bank/Ridley Tower, Marion

The former Marion National Bank, Washington and Fourth streets, Marion, housed the bank on the first floor until 2016, but upper vacant floors and an aging exterior were deteriorating. In 2018, Halstead Development invested $9 million into what is now known as Ridley Tower. The building serves as a mixed-use development of apartments, offices, and an ice cream and coffee shop in the lobby area.

Current Exterior: According to Indiana Landmarks, the former Marion National Bank’s terra cotta façade was restored by Heritage Masonry Restoration in Indianapolis by stabilizing existing tiles and installing replica pieces.
