Franciscan Health Rensselaer installs state-of-the-art CT Scanner

Posted

Franciscan Health Rensselaer has installed and is now using the state-of-the-art Canon Aquilion Prime SP 160 slice Ultra Helical CT scanner.

The new unit allows a more comfortable and a faster scan for patients. In turn, this allows a lower dose and less exposure to radiation while gaining efficacy. Along with the reduced radiation, the new machine also reduces noise and produces sharper images across many body regions.

“We are grateful to Franciscan for their continued capital investment for our hospital and community, and for its strategic standardization of technology across all Franciscan hospitals,” said Carlos Vasquez, vice president and chief operating officer, Franciscan Health Rensselaer and Crawfordsville. “This 160 slice Ultra Helical CT scanner improves image quality, decreases radiation and scanning time, while generating high-definition results for a higher acuity of diagnosis by our clinicians.”

The upgraded CT scanner provides a balance between image quality and dose for every patient, from pediatric to bariatric. The Franciscan team of CT technologists are ready to serve patients with this new high-quality diagnostic CT unit.
