Taylor University Breaks Ground on New Chapel and Welcome Center

Posted

Taylor University broke ground on its new chapel and welcome center, a transformative project designed to strengthen campus life, support worship, and provide a warm and inviting space for students, alumni, and guests.

The chapel will seat approximately 3,500—more than double the current Rediger Chapel—providing room for worship, prayer, and large gatherings while maintaining the intimate, familiar atmosphere that the Taylor community cherishes. Thoughtful design details such as natural wood tones, darker accent colors, accessible layouts, and functional features like pastor offices and a green room for speakers ensure the space will be both practical and inspiring.

The welcome center, an addition to the LaRita Boren Campus Center, will serve as the university’s front door, creating a strong first impression for prospective students, families, and alumni. The facility will include soft seating, natural light, and small gathering spaces that invite reflection and conversation. Key departments—including admissions, marketing, advancement, and the President’s office—will be housed within, giving visitors easy access to programs while allowing them to experience the vibrancy of student life.

Construction is underway. Together, the chapel and welcome center will become a cornerstone of campus, offering spaces where community, faith, and connection come together.

Design Collaborative provided full architectural and engineering services for the project, including interior design, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and lighting design.
