16 Tech Traction Program Announces Eight Hardtech Startups

Posted

16 Tech Community Corporation announced the eight startup companies selected to join Traction, a 9-week program that provides the participants with coaching, technical resources and funding support to test and advance their prototypes and products. Supported by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s Community Collaboration Fund, the fall 2026 cohort, starting this week, marks the first group of entrepreneurs to participate in the Traction program.

Led by 16 Tech Community Corporation and developed specifically for startups who need access to prototyping and physical product creation, the selected founders receive access to 16 Tech’s Machyne makerspace, working sessions, one-on-one coaching, technical expertise and connections to manufacturers, investors and ecosystem partners. Traction participants may be eligible to receive up to $5,000 in milestone-based, non-dilutive funding to help offset costs associated with building, testing and advancing their business. Awards will be based on each company’s proposed milestones, demonstrated needs, participation and progress during the cohort.

“Traction is ideal for founders who are ready to build a prototype or product, particularly those developing hardtech, medtech, manufacturing innovations, physical products or applied technology ventures,” said Andy Lehman, 16 Tech’s director of entrepreneurship and program leader. “The goal isn’t simply to help entrepreneurs learn more – it’s to help them build faster by removing the barriers that slow them down.”

The cohort includes:

  • Azara Energy - energy hardware
  • Deborah Diagnostics - medtech diagnostic
  • Infragilis Beauty - accessibility-focused beauty/personal care product
  • Let’s Get Mouthy - physical assistive/medtech product
  • MusiTech - product for musicians
  • Piedra Engineering - sensor and edge-computing hardware system
  • Pillipop - consumer health product (also participated in the Ignition program for college founders)
  • Tandem Robotics - robotic system

The program concludes with a showcase the week of November 16, where participants will share the progress they've made and prepare for their next stage of growth.
