The Applied Research Institute (ARI) announced the promotion of Andrew Kossack to Chief Executive Officer.
Kossack brings extensive leadership experience as the former State Director and Counsel to U.S. Senator Todd Young, Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue, and Associate Counsel in the White House, as well as a proven track record of driving innovation in research and development in his most recent role of Executive Vice President of Partnerships and General Counsel at ARI.
“Andrew is exactly the right person to carry ARI’s momentum forward and lead the ARI team into its next phase of growth,” said John Thompson, CEO of Thompson Distribution Company Inc and Chairman of the ARI Board of Directors. “Not only has he been integral in our recent success, but his deep understanding of the innovation landscape and commitment to excellence positions ARI to rapidly expand its impact.”
Since 2023, the Applied Research Institute has achieved significant milestones in advancing cutting-edge research initiatives and strengthening partnerships across multiple sectors. This includes winning federal tech hub designations for the state in microelectronics and biosecurity, as well as a recent five-year, $600 million cooperative agreement with the Defense Innovation Unit to manage Department of Defense efforts to accelerate national security innovation nationwide.
The appointment follows the departure of David Roberts from the organization.
ARI’s Board of Directors expressed unanimous confidence in Kossack and looks forward to the continued advancement of the organization's mission under his guidance.
