Indiana architects and engineers have a ton of cool projects going on, but we really wanted to hear about the ones that got them most excited. So, we put out the call to firms throughout the state for their input on the coolest architecture and engineering projects that have taken place in the last few years.
No requirements in terms of project cost, scale, location, or industry. We simply wanted the experts to tell us about the most exciting and interesting projects they’ve recently worked on. Their responses did not disappoint. Check out what Beam, Longest and Neff shared with us:

Beam, Longest and Neff’s project at the Central Avenue Bridge was a replacement of a historic structure originally built in 1899. The three-span structure runs over water and is part of the well-known Fall Creek Parkway Bridges.
Due to its historical significance, the contractor was required to remove and salvage each original stone and return them to their original place after the reconstruction of the structural arch components. There were over 5,000 stones. Some weighed several thousand pounds, which only allowed setting of 10-15 stones per day. Concrete arches were built using custom concrete arch beams.
The project is considered a once-in-a-lifetime challenge for the builders because this level of funding is not typically invested into rehabs. 80% of the project was paid for by federal grants and 20% from local entities. The bridge’s lead project manager remarked that he often wonders how Hoosiers were able to build this bridge in the early 1900s.
