Wightman Hires James as Construction Administrator

Wightman, a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, announces the hiring of Courtney James as the company’s first solely focused Construction Administrator.

In this new role, James will be responsible for transitioning projects from the initial design phase through project completion. She will focus on document reviews and serve as a liaison between the construction manager, contractors, and design team from bidding to construction.

James has more than 20 years of construction management and architecture experience working with K-12, collegiate, non-profit, and municipal clients. Her vast knowledge base includes project management, client engagement, construction building codes, contract review, and project audits.

A graduate of Drury University in Springfield, Ohio, James earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art and Art History.

“From educational clients to Tribal projects and municipal work, Courtney brings a rich and diverse level of experience to our team,” said Wightman’s Director of Architecture Greg Monberg. “We look forward to her helping us to better serve our clients throughout the construction process, from aiding with construction document review to bidding and award, through site observation and final project closeout.

“Her background working for architectural firms, construction managers, and contractors makes her an ideal professional to help us build our construction administration team and enhance the high-quality of service Wightman provides,” he added.

In addition to her hands-on experience, James is also a highly effective public speaker, sharing design and construction knowledge with entities across Michigan. She has participated in speaking engagements at conferences for the Michigan Association of School Administrators, the Michigan Association of School Business Officials, and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International.

James will work out of Wightman’s Kalamazoo office.
