United Way Northwest Indiana’s First-Time Homebuyer Fair at NEO in Portage saw an incredible turnout, connecting aspiring homeowners with vital resources to make their homeownership dreams a reality. With an impressive lineup of vendors, industry experts, and nonprofit organizations, the event proved to be a valuable resource for those looking to navigate the home-buying process with confidence.

More than 120 attendees participated in the fair, engaging in three insightful panel discussions featuring banks and mortgage brokers, nonprofit program assistance providers, and experienced realtors. Vendors reported strong engagement, with many potential buyers taking their first steps toward homeownership.

"The enthusiasm from the community was incredible. It’s clear that there is a growing demand for resources and education around first-time home buying, and we’re thrilled to provide that guidance," said Joe Justak, Director of Marketing at United Way Northwest Indiana. "We saw firsthand how crucial these connections are for individuals and families eager to own their first home."

Statistics show that first-time homebuyers make up approximately 24% of all home purchases in the U.S., underscoring the need for continued outreach and education. With the median first-time buyer’s household income around $97,000, access to financial literacy, loan options, and assistance programs remain essential for prospective buyers.
