Superior Construction, an American family-owned infrastructure contractor, has been named to Engineering News-Record’s 2024 list of “Top 50 Domestic Heavy Contractors.”

Each year, ENR ranks companies by their construction revenue to compile its “Top 400 Contractors” list, which includes additional rankings in specific categories. In the “Top 50 Domestic Heavy Contractors” category, firms are ranked by total domestic revenue from publicly funded projects primarily involving transportation infrastructure. Superior’s total 2023 revenue of $757 million, including $624 million in new contracts and 95 new transportation contracts, advanced it to 34th place after ranking 38th on last year’s list.

In the overall 2024 “Top 400 Contractors” list, Superior placed 168th — up from 185th last year.

“In 2023, we solidified our growth in new and existing markets with a disciplined, strategic mindset,” said Superior CEO Nick Largura. “Our hard-working employees share that vision and are the reason for this recognition. We’re immensely proud of them and the work they put in every day.”

According to ENR, the construction industry continues to deal with significant labor challenges. In addition, higher interest rates are making it more difficult for contractors’ prospective clients to obtain loans. Despite that, for a second consecutive year, Top 400 revenue has increased by a double-digit percentage, rising 13.9% to $556.9 billion, up from $488.98 billion last year.
