One day can spark new ideas, open doors and change the way professionals approach their careers. That spirit came alive on Oct. 28 as over 400 professionals gathered at Blue Chip Casino Hotel Spa in Michigan City for the 2026 Professional Women’s Conference (PWC).
Presented by the Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association (NWIIWA), the conference carried the theme, “One Day, Lasting Impact.” The annual event brought together professionals at different stages of their careers for opportunities to explore new ideas, strengthen workplace skills and build relationships that support professional growth.
PWC featured keynote presentations from Tami Evans and Mimi Brown, who addressed navigating uncertainty, building confidence and recognizing the strengths individuals bring to their professional lives. Evan’s presentation, “Plot Twist: Turning Uncertainty into Momentum,” explored adaptability and resilience. Brown’s “OWN YOUR SWAG” encouraged attendees to recognize their value and develop an authentic professional presence.
Nine breakout sessions offered additional opportunities for learning across topics including leadership, career development, communication, time management, social media and artificial intelligence.
“The impact of professional development extends well beyond a single day,” said Andrea Pearman, Executive Director of NWIIWA. “When professionals have an opportunity to be inspired by experienced voices, they return to their workplaces and communities with the confidence they need to provide that lasting impact that they can carry forward all year.”
In addition to the presentations, attendees had an opportunity to network throughout the event and visit the exhibitor showcase.
The conference was presented by NWIIWA with support from corporate sponsors and community partners. ArcelorMittal served as the presenting sponsor. Platinum sponsors included Franciscan Health and UChicago Medicine. Gold sponsors included Horizon Bank and NIPSCO.
