Vincennes University is partnering with Eleven Fifty Academy, founded by tech entrepreneur and prominent Hoosier Scott Jones, to develop cybersecurity talent.
Eleven Fifty Academy is dedicated to bridging the tech talent gap in Indiana. It offers introductory coding courses, specialized workshops, and advanced coding bootcamps. Based in Fishers, the non-for-profit Academy has expanded with a cybersecurity classroom in downtown Indianapolis.
The partnership between VU and Eleven Fifty Academy will allow students to earn VU course credits. Students may apply the credits toward a certificate of program completion in Cyber Security and Networking.
The credits also will enable Eleven Fifty Academy students to continue their education with VU to pursue an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security Information Technology.
“There is a great need in the state of Indiana for more cybersecurity experts in our workforce,” Jaci Lederman, VU Information Technology Department chair and associate professor, said. “We are excited to work with Eleven Fifty Academy to educate more Hoosiers in cybersecurity.”
Eleven Fifty Academy has consistently been named by Course Report as one of the best coding bootcamps in the nation. The Academy, now in its fifth year, has graduated 504 entry-level developers through its immersive learning experience. The average starting salary of graduates is more than $55,000, with many graduates earning more than $81,000 after only 12 weeks in the program.
“Cybersecurity is a gateway to transform lives by rapidly ramping students into rewarding careers,” Jones, founder and president of Eleven Fifty Academy, said. “The Academy’s program already offers NET+ and SEC+ certifications that are internationally recognized and our exciting partnership with Vincennes University gives students a viable path to a degree as well."
Eleven Fifty Academy is a nonprofit organization focused upon high quality, immersive software development courses designed to accelerate the learning curve for people of all ages and skill sets. The mission of Eleven Fifty Academy is to build an ecosystem of coding talent that financially benefits the individual, their employer, and their community.
