Indiana Landmarks, a nonprofit dedicated to saving historic places and revitalizing communities, shares some examples of Indiana buildings that have been renovated and repurposed for new business.
Former Marion National Bank/Ridley Tower, Marion
The former Marion National Bank, Washington and Fourth streets, Marion, housed the bank on the first floor until 2016, but upper vacant floors and an aging exterior were deteriorating. In 2018, Halstead Development invested $9 million into what is now known as Ridley Tower. The building serves as a mixed-use development of apartments, offices, and an ice cream and coffee shop in the lobby area.
MatchBOX Coworking Studio, Lafayette
Opened in 1938 by Walter Gray as a Dodge car dealership and service garage, the building along downtown Lafayette's South Sixth Street was transformed by nonprofit MatchBOX in 2014 for modern entrepreneurial purposes. The MatchBOX Coworking Studio, housed in the building which is owned by the Tippecanoe County Public Library, now features office, meeting and makers spaces as well as a coffee shop.
