United Way Northwest Indiana received a $1,000 donation from the Northwest Indiana Area Labor Federation (NIALF). This contribution is a powerful example of how labor and community organizations can work together to improve lives and strengthen local neighborhoods.

The donation will support United Way Northwest Indiana’s ongoing mission to help individuals and families in Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper, and Starke counties overcome barriers and build pathways to a better life. Through programs focused on education, financial stability, health, and basic needs, United Way Northwest Indiana addresses the root causes of hardship and supports long-term solutions.

“The labor movement has always been about lifting each other up,” said Steven Minchuk, President of the Northwest Indiana Area Labor Federation. “Partnering with United Way Northwest Indiana is another way we show that solidarity in action. Whether it’s helping people gain access to stable housing, job training, or food assistance, United Way is making a difference in the lives of working families—and we’re proud to be a part of that impact.”

United Way Northwest Indiana’s work spans across a broad range of services designed to stabilize lives and create upward mobility. “We’re honored to receive this contribution from the Northwest Indiana Area Labor Federation,” said Chris White, CEO at United Way Northwest Indiana. “Their support reinforces the idea that we are truly better united. Together, we’re building a Northwest Indiana where every person—no matter their background or zip code—can live a healthy, financially stable life.”

This partnership highlights a long-standing connection between organized labor and United Way, rooted in a shared belief in community and fairness. Every dollar contributed helps United Way Northwest Indiana provide the building blocks for a stronger future.
