The Ironworks Plaza Improvements and Riverwalk Extension project in Mishawaka has been recognized by the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) as the 2024 Outstanding Concrete Project of the Year. Larson-Danielson Construction Company, Inc. worked in collaboration with Smith Ready Mix and DLZ Indiana as a concrete subcontractor on this award-winning project.
Situated at the core of Mishawaka, the project encompassed a comprehensive renovation, utilizing a total of 1,429 yards of concrete to fundamentally alter the landscape and enhance the experiences offered within the community.
A pivotal moment in this endeavor was the replacement of the much-respected Merifield Ice Rink, signaling a transition to a new era while paying tribute to the site's rich history. A notable feature of the project was the construction of a remarkable 17,500-square-foot ice ribbon and plaza.
Designed as a central hub for recreational activities and social gatherings, this development signifies a new era for the Ironworks Plaza and Riverwalk, requiring meticulous demolition, earthwork, and precise installation of concrete pavement. The project successfully marries modern design with functionality, catering to the evolving needs of the Mishawaka community.
This comprehensive project epitomizes structural improvements and a commitment to community enrichment, offering a revitalized space for relaxation, social interaction, and the enjoyment of Mishawaka's vibrant atmosphere.
