The Methodist Hospitals Foundation announced that it has received a $100,000 gift from United States Steel Corporation-Gary Works in recognition of the hospital’s 100 years of service to the Northwest Indiana community. The gift will support the Methodist Hospitals Vision Fund, which was established to ensure equitable health care for all those in need, now and into the future.
“Methodist Hospitals Foundation is continually humbled by the generosity of corporate partners who are seriously concerned for the welfare of the community,” said Heather McCarthy, President of the Methodist Hospitals Foundation Board. “This latest gift by U. S. Steel-Gary Works is the largest single corporate donation ever received by the Foundation, and it sets the stage for accelerating our efforts to engage philanthropic support.”
“We are grateful to U. S. Steel Gary Works for this major gift that comes on the heels of previous support of our efforts to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. We greatly value our partnership with U. S. Steel-Gary Works. Gary Works shares our vision of providing the best possible healthcare for the local community. It is critically important that two significant organizations are supporting each other and working together for the welfare of the City of Gary,” said Matt Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Hospitals.
“Gary Works and Methodist Hospitals have been pillars for the City of Gary for over 100 years. Today, we are honored to be a part of their historical moment to celebrate serving Gary for a century,” said Dan Killeen, Vice President of Gary Works. “U. S. Steel’s contribution of $100,000 to Methodist is in recognition of how important this hospital is to our community. The donation serves as a launch pad to help Methodist continue to deliver compassionate care for patients in need for generations to come.”
