Legacy Foundation Awards Over $1.7M in Scholarships

Posted

Legacy Foundation, the community foundation for Lake County, Indiana, has awarded 197 scholarships worth a total of $1,705,848 to northwest Indiana students. The awards include 191 scholarships from funds held at Legacy Foundation and 6 from the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program.

“It’s an honor for Legacy Foundation to award these scholarships,” explained Jodi Kateiva, Legacy Foundation Scholarship Administrator. “Each year I am more impressed with how successful and talented our recipients are. I look forward to seeing the accomplishments of these students for years to come.”

The foundation has a variety of unique and broader scholarship opportunities to support college costs for Northwest Indiana students. Each scholarship established by individuals, businesses, and families has set criteria, determined by the fund holder. Dollar amounts for awards vary from $500 to full-ride scholarships, and may be for one year or renewable over four years.

“We couldn’t be more thankful to our donors, fund holders, and the Lilly Endowment for their generosity and support of our community’s students. With the increasing cost of education, these scholarships provide resources to help students pursue their goals,” said Kelly Anoe, President & CEO.

The foundation has awarded over $50 million in grants and scholarships to nonprofit organizations and individuals since its founding in 1992. The foundation manages nearly $80 million in assets and is governed by a volunteer board of directors representing a diverse spectrum of business, education, and the nonprofit and public sectors.
