Knauf Insulation, Inc. (Knauf), a family-owned business and one of the largest fiberglass insulation manufacturers in the U.S., announces joining EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership. This collaboration provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods movement within supply chains.
Knauf’s participation in the SmartWay program further demonstrates its commitment to reaching a 30% reduction on scope 3 carbon emissions by 2032. Through the program, Knauf will have access to SmartWay tools to identify and collect critical data points that will generate and quantify freight emission reports. Participation advances supply chain sustainability by measuring, benchmarking and improving freight transportation data efficiency to identify how to reduce carbon emissions across the supply chain.
“Collecting accurate data across the value chain can be challenging, however, becoming a SmartWay partner improves knowledge on our indirect emissions and enables us to develop a reduction roadmap throughout our value chain,” said Gabriela Fleury, Knauf director of sustainability. “There’s still a long road ahead of us, however, programs like SmartWay are a step in the right direction to reduce our carbon footprint.”
