Posted

Indiana-based Sports Tech HQ announced that Ireland-based Wiistream, a leading provider of fully customizable streaming platforms for sporting associations, will launch its U.S. operations with a footprint in Indianapolis. The company, currently based in Ireland, plans to work alongside Sports Tech HQ and the robust sports and technology ecosystem in Indiana as they seek to simplify streaming and cultivate community by helping fans to be more engaged and connected with their clubs, leagues, and federations around the world.

The announcement marks a major strategic move for the European start-up, deepening their access to the American markets and broadening their efforts to offer affordable, customizable, and accessible streaming solutions to a wider range of sports organizations.

Wiistream specializes in creating personalized end-to-end streaming solutions, allowing organizations to control key aspects such as the branding of the platform, monetization strategies, and data analytics. By partnering with Wiistream, sports associations can enhance fan engagement, increase revenue streams, and gain valuable insights into viewer behavior.

“From the moment we arrived in Indianapolis, we knew that we had found our home to grow in the US,” said Patrick Magee, CEO & Co-Founder of Wiistream. “We’re extremely excited to have Indiana as our focal point for growth within the U.S. with the support of Sports Tech HQ and Elevate Ventures.”

Wiistream currently partners with prominent sporting associations such as the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), for whom they stream over 1000 live events annually. Their platforms, like the Gametime platform for the WBSC, have streamed thousands of live games from locations all over the globe, showcasing the company’s expertise and reliability.

“Wiistream’s commitment to simplifying streaming for clubs, leagues and federations around the world aligns perfectly with our mission at Sports Tech HQ,” said Jeff Hintz, Executive Director of Sports Tech HQ. “Indiana is at the crossroads of the rapidly evolving sports tech ecosystem in this country, and it is no surprise that disruptive and cutting edge companies like Wiisteam are looking to us as their home base in the States.

Wiistream’s decision to establish a presence in Indianapolis follows its successful participation in the 2023 class of Techstars Sports Accelerator powered by Indy, as well as investment and support from Elevate Ventures.

Wiistream will begin their Indiana presence by hiring for several key positions including a Director of Sales and will continue to scale their team to include a Director of Marketing and Chief Revenue Officer. The company will have a physical location at the Emerging Manufacturing Collaborative Center (EMC2) in the 16 Tech Innovation District.
