Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana Launches New Tax Credit Program

Posted

Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana is proud to announce the introduction of Indiana’s Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit, aimed at empowering community members to invest in housing solutions that bring stability and opportunity to working families. This innovative tax credit enables donors to double the impact of their contributions, fostering safe, quality homes for families striving to achieve homeownership.

Contributions made to Habitat for Humanity of Indiana—including Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana—are eligible for a tax credit equal to 50% of the donation’s value, tax credits being capped at $10,000 per donor each year. This program offers a unique opportunity for residents and businesses to support the mission of Habitat while gaining significant tax savings.

“This tax credit is a game-changer for the families we serve,” said Dawn Michaels, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana. “Every contribution helps build more homes and strengthens our local community. Especially as 2024 draws to a close, we urge taxpayers to consider making their charitable contributions soon to take full advantage of Indiana’s Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit. With a finite amount of tax credits available, early donations ensure that contributors secure this substantial tax benefit while supporting local families on their path to homeownership.”
