Girtz Industries Breaks Ground for New Production Facilities

Posted

David Girtz, President and CEO of Girtz Industries, broke ground on a new 13,000-square-foot facility in White County, responding to the surging demand for power generation solutions, particularly backup and emergency power generators. This surge is a direct result of the rapid growth of data center construction in Indiana and nationwide.

Girtz Industries began in 1963 when Elmer Girtz Jr. founded the corporation on part of the Girtz Family Farm. Under David Girtz's leadership, the company transitioned to a precision metal fabrication business focusing on power generation. Today, Girtz Industries is positioned as an industry leader in providing engineering and manufacturing services to the world's largest generator OEMs.

David Girtz, his wife Beth, and their grandson broke ground on this new facility. They were joined by Tyson Mellon (Girtz Plant Manager) and Brent Beissler (Girtz Engineering Manager). Currently, Girtz Industries employs 137 employees and will look to increase that staff as the new facilities near completion in the Spring of 2025.

"The exceptional residents of Monticello, White County, and surrounding areas are key to making our products the highest quality in the industry ... that's what makes it possible to grow our company."

White County Economic Development has been engaged with David Girtz during his planning process for this expansion. White County EDC Executive Director Randy Strasser added, "Generational family businesses like Girtz Industries are the backbone of White County industry. With a specialized product in a robust and maturing market nationally, Girtz Industries will continue to be a leader in this market.

Also, this expansion comes as the county has seen new industry investments of $104 Million in 2023 and $63 Million in the first six months of 2024. Exciting news for White County shows that the health of our businesses and industries is firm."
