Corey Wheelock, MD, a BE/BC physician specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatry, has joined North Point Orthopaedics in Munster and Crown Point, Indiana. Dr. Wheelock employs a comprehensive non-operative approach to diagnosing, treating, and managing a variety of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
Dr. Wheelock earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN, where he majored in Biochemistry. Following this, he obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Wheelock completed a rigorous residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Chicago/Schwab Rehab Hospital in Chicago, IL. He spent his final year in residency as the Chief Resident, gaining extensive experience in non-surgical management of disabilities and functional impairments. During his training he worked with both UIC and University of Chicago Division I athletes as well as veterans and individuals with disabilities.
He has a special interest in electrodiagnostic medicine, musculoskeletal and regenerative medicine, and is adept in performing a variety of tendon, joint, and spinal injections using advanced guidance techniques. Dr. Wheelock is dedicated to staying at the forefront of his field through ongoing research and education. He has presented at both community events and academic conferences and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. His commitment to integrating the latest evidence-based practices ensures that his patients receive the highest standard of care.
