Congressman Visits Korellis Roofing

Congressman Pete Visclosky and his chief-of-staff Mark Lopez visited Korellis Roofing to tour their newly expanded facility.

Over the last 18 months, Korellis Roofing has been working on over $2 million-worth of improvements, including new office space, exterior upgrades, material storage renovation, and the creation of the Korellis Roofing Training Center. The final stages of the office renovation were finished in early March, after continuing to house the Purdue University Northwest Counseling Center for Couple and Family Therapy. The property was purchased from Purdue University and per the terms of the agreement, the therapy center could occupy one wing through the end of 2017.

The Training Center utilizes inclement weather days to deliver in house training for continued development, in an effort to attract and retain tradesmen and women. The newly-hired Workforce Development Manager, Dan Stella, who was actually onsite providing training to a few apprentices, even conducted some quick training with Visclosky and Lopez.

Following the tour, Visclosky spoke with Korellis Roofing office and yard employees about the current economic state of Northwest Indiana, as well as expectations for years to come, discussing steel production, expanding access to the lakefront, the South Shore train system, and more.

“I appreciate the opportunity to recently meet with employees and tour the training facility,” Visclosky said on Facebook Monday. “I thank you for your commitment to ensuring safety, providing quality services, and creating career opportunities in the Northwest Indiana economy.”
