Community Health Network Names Three Executive VPs to Leadership Team

Community Health Network announced the appointments of three executive leaders who will join its senior leadership team: Elisabeth Klar as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, Cate Sabatine as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and Ed Simcox as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Technology Officer.

The appointments strengthen Community’s leadership in workforce strategy, legal and regulatory affairs, and digital innovation as the health system continues to advance its mission of enhancing health and well-being throughout Central Indiana.

“Each of these leaders brings exceptional expertise, proven leadership and a commitment to improving healthcare experiences for patients, communities and caregivers,” said Patrick McGill, president and CEO of Community Health Network. “Their combined experience will help position Community for continued success as healthcare evolves and as we invest in our people, technology and future growth.”

Klar will lead Community’s human resources strategy, including talent development, workforce planning, caregiver engagement and organizational culture initiatives.

She brings over 20 years of healthcare human resources leadership experience. Most recently, she served as senior vice president and chief human resources officer for Memorial Health in Springfield, Illinois. Her previous leadership experience includes roles with Highmark Health and Cleveland Clinic.

Klar has twice been recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as a “CHRO to Know” and has received Gallup’s Culture Transformation Award. She holds a doctorate in organization and management from Capella University, a Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.

Sabatine will provide strategic legal counsel to Community’s executive leadership team and board of directors. She will oversee legal affairs, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, government relations and enterprise legal risk management.

Sabatine most recently served as chief administrative officer and general counsel for American Senior Communities, where she led both human resources and legal operations. She previously practiced healthcare law with Krieg DeVault and Amundsen Davis, representing healthcare organizations in regulatory, litigation and transactional matters.

She earned a Juris Doctor and an MBA from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University.

Simcox will lead enterprise technology strategy and digital transformation efforts across Community. His responsibilities will include cybersecurity, analytics, data strategy, artificial intelligence initiatives and technology innovation.

Simcox most recently led Oracle Health’s artificial intelligence and interoperability product portfolios. Previously, he directed major digital transformation initiatives at Mayo Clinic and served as chief technology officer and acting chief information officer for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He also served as chief technology officer for Indiana University Health.

He earned a Juris Doctor from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University. A resident of Indianapolis, Simcox is active in civic and nonprofit board service focused on improving healthcare in Indiana.
