Big Participation at Tippecanoe Building Trades Camp

Posted

The Tippecanoe Building Trades Construction Council recently held a series of workforce development events that drew numerous participants from local schools. The 2019 Summer Construction Camp included trade representatives consisting of electricians, heavy equipment operators, finishing, bricklayers, plumbers and steamfitters, iron workers, plasters and masons, sheet metal workers, and insulators.

“We have had a tremendous amount of community support from not only the business community but the area high schools and elected officials as well,” said Steve Snyder, council president. “We not only had HS Students attend but several area educators attended as well. Each particular trade that participated supplied not only the skilled apprentice instructors but also the heavy equipment, tools, material, and personal protective equipment for the class.”

The camp received so much positive feedback that organizers are now planning to make it an annual event.

The Tippecanoe Building Trades Construction Council is a professional trade council made up of 17 professional trade associations that cover a nine-county area that surrounds Tippecanoe in Lafayette, representing over 3,500 men and women who live and work in the region.
