Don Harle, American Community Bank’s long-time board member, has recently decided to retire from his board position. The bank has subsequently appointed Steve Bohn to fill Harle’s vacant position.
Harle, a board member with American Community Bank since 1995, has decided to end his time on the bank’s Board to more fully enjoy his retirement. In his time with the bank, Harle has seen it all and helped to lead the bank through various
economic environments, a name change, a president transition, and a pandemic. The bank is enormously grateful for Harle’s steady leadership throughout his many years.
Harle’s career began in the 1960s in various direct mail positions, leading to the founding of his own direct mail company in Hammond, Mid-America Mailers, in 1969. Over the course of 35 years, he grew and developed the company which he merged with Chicago-based Diamond Marketing Solutions in 2004. A local product born in Hammond, Harle has served in various capacities with many local NWI organizations and held professional positions with many industry organizations. He earned the Charles Downs Chicago Direct Marketer of the Year in 2007.
Mike Mellon, American Community Bank president, says: “Don has meant a great deal to this board, serving for nearly 30 years. His stabilizing leadership will be missed greatly. We can’t thank him enough for his many years of service to the bank and NWI community.”
Correspondingly, the bank has made the interim appointment of Bohn to the board to fill the vacant position, with the expectation that he be ratified as a duly elected board member at the bank’s next annual meeting.
Mellon adds, “Steve is a perfect fit for the position with his industry knowledge and familiarity with the current Board. The timing worked out well. When this board vacancy arose and Steve was available to receive the appointment, the Board was afforded the opportunity to fittingly uphold its responsibility with a suitable replacement sure to continue the bank’s standard for great leadership.”
