Janitorial and food service distributor Acorn Distributors Inc. debuted its new 125,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution center in Brownsburg, IN.
Leaders of Acorn Distributors were accompanied by representatives from the Indiana Economic Development Commission, Browning, the Town of Brownsburg, and the Greater Brownsburg Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new headquarters and distribution center at 1625 Northfield Dr.
"The move to our new location has been greatly anticipated, and we are thrilled to have this space to better serve our current customers as well as our prospective customers," Acorn Distributors President Jennifer Rosenberg said.
The Woman-owned business specializes in disposable paper and plastics, janitorial supplies, chemicals, sanitary maintenance materials, and food service supply products. The company maintains operations in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. The company currently has 86 employees at its Brownsburg location but is growing quickly and looking to hire for several positions.
"Acorn Distributors' well-established, family and woman-owned business exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit that Brownsburg is all about," said Town Council President Travis Tschaenn. "We're proud to support Acorn Distributors and look forward to their continued success."
The company was founded in 1976 by Al Wachter as a small restaurant supply company, under the name of Acorn Paper and Restaurant Supply Co. The company was then located on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
In 2005, Jennifer Rosenberg, Al’s daughter, became second-generation owner of Acorn allowing Acorn to apply for Women Business Enterprise certifications in Indiana and Louisville. In 2023, Acorn obtained its Women’s Business Enterprise National Council certification granting national WBE status for the company.
