RDC Helped Secure Over $45M in Investments in 2017

The Regional Development Company (RDC), headquartered in Valparaiso, Ind., announced their 2017 year-end accomplishments. lender awards, and new board appointments for the coming year. The RDC is a non-profit organization and Certified Development Company (CDC) that administers the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504 Loan Program for small business growth.

RDC had thirty-three loans approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration, which brought a total of $16,986,000 in U.S. Small Business Administration funding to local companies.  The Regional Development Company partners with local banking institutions to provide business financing for large capital projects. Through their efforts, the Regional Development Company helped bring $45,785,369 of new investment into communities throughout the state of Indiana and Illinois. The Company closed twenty-four loans for a total of $10,643,000. These projects also created or retained 283 jobs in the States of Indiana and Illinois.

Awards were given at the event to the top referring lenders to the Regional Development Company. Centier Bank was awarded the Most Active Bank Partner with eight loans and $5,137,000 in referral dollars. The 2017 Most Active Lender awards were presented to Brian Rusin of Peoples Bank who referred three loans (highest number of loans) and Greg Gordon of Centier Bank who referred a total of $3,670,000 in debenture dollars (highest dollar amount of loans).

The Board of Directors elected the 2017-18 slate of officers, which included Hubert Cook, Greater LaPorte Economic Development Corporation, as Chair, Rex Richards, Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce / Valparaiso Economic Development Corporation, as Vice Chair, Scott Casbon, First Merchants Bank, as Secretary, John Matthiesen, CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, as Treasurer and Tom Wilk, Centier Bank as Past Chair.

The Membership of the Regional Development Company elected Jeff Bennett, McColly Bennett Real Estate, Chris King, Robinson Engineering, LTD, and Heather Jones, Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce, to the Board of Directors.
