New Influential Women Association Gains Momentum in Porter County

More than 250 people registered for the official public launch celebration of the newly-formed Northwest Indiana Influential Woman Association (NWIIWA), a nonprofit organization that aims to foster collaborative efforts to build additional professional development opportunities for women and promote a positive, forward-thinking agenda.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to see such growing interest in NWIIWA,” said Christina Matoski, secretary with NWIIWA and nurse practitioner with OurHealth. “The response as been tremendous and we’re excited to leverage the collective experience of our members into a network that builds careers for future generations of women in Northwest Indiana.”

The event was held at the Valpo Chamber of Commerce building and provided attendees with a clear perspective of the association’s intentions. NWIIWA’s founders, which consist of many alumni from the Influential Women of Northwest Indiana Awards Banquet, identified a regional need for a stronger support system that transcends industries and enables more women to develop their careers. As a result, the association was developed to advance pathways for educational, professional development, and networking opportunities with a commitment to delivering these benefits without being a drain on an individual’s time.

Unlike other associations, engagement and inclusivity will be prioritized over time-consuming regular monthly meetings.

NWIIWA’s next event, on August 9th, will be a special Lunch & Learn with Melissa Greenwell, COO at The Finish Line, Inc. Her presentation will pertain to details from her book “Money on the Table: How To Increase Profits Through Gender-Balanced Leadership.” More details and registration information are available on NWIIWA.org under the events page.
