Korellis Adds New Board Member

Korellis has named a new board member. The Hammond-based exterior building envelope contractor, which is 100% employee-owned as of January 1, 2018, appointed Thomas Shanahan to its board of directors.

Shanahan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Creighton University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

He served the NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association) from 1989 to 2022 as its Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management and Executive Education. As such, he has been an instructor, speaker, and facilitator at countless construction industry events. Shanahan is known for his expertise in the roofing industry, health, and safety, as well as designing, developing, and teaching leadership coaching, strategic planning, and risk management programs.

Shanahan was appointed to OSHA’s Advisory Council on Construction Safety and Health as a management representative by the U.S. Secretary of Labor. Since his retirement from NRCA, Shanahan has been a leadership coach and consultant, and an independent contractor to NRCA as its Future Executives Institute’s Executive Director.

He holds an SME (subject matter expert) certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), a graduate leadership coaching certificate from Georgetown University, and the CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation from the American Association of Association Executives (ASAE).

Shanahan worked with the Korellis executive team to develop its strategic plan and is honored to serve on its Board of Directors offering his industry experience and leadership expertise to support and help guide Korellis to fulfilling its vision and mission.

Shanahan shares three children and three grandchildren with his wife, Kathy. He enjoys playing the flute and spending time on repair projects for their 90+-year-old home.
