Hurst Named Exec. Director of Institute for Workforce Excellence

Todd Hurst takes the helm in the newly created position of executive director for the Institute for Workforce Excellence, an affiliate program of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

“We’re so pleased to add Todd to our team,” offers Jason Bearce, vice president of education and workforce development for the Indiana Chamber. “Todd comes to us with extensive expertise spanning the full education-to-workforce pipeline and deep connections in the talent development space at both the state and regional levels.”

Hurst holds a Ph.D. in educational studies from the University of Kentucky, as well as a Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction from the University of Indianapolis and an undergraduate degree from Ball State University. Most recently, he served as a senior consultant for the Indianapolis-based consulting firm, Resultant, where he led workforce strategy development and program oversight for the organization’s public sector clients.

In his new role, Hurst will provide management and operational leadership for each of the institute’s supported programs and initiatives, including Work and Learn Indiana (formerly Indiana INTERNet).

Hurst will also oversee the new Talent Resource Navigator – a web-based tool that will be unveiled statewide early next year. The navigator will be available to anyone with an interest in maximizing the potential of individuals in Indiana’s workforce, helping guide and connect its users to vetted partners, best practices and programs tailored to meet specific workforce needs.

“Todd’s background suits him well to work alongside our many partners and stakeholders as we expand the Indiana Chamber’s capacity to deliver the resources and support that Hoosiers need to succeed in today’s workforce.”

“The Chamber plays a critical role in supporting a thriving education and workforce ecosystem across Indiana,” Hurst says. “I’m excited to join the Institute’s team and look forward to working with partners across the state to drive better outcomes for individuals and employers.”

The Indiana Chamber launched the Institute for Workforce Excellence as an umbrella initiative designed to better leverage the organization’s reach, relationships, and capacity to help employers and community partners across Indiana build effective talent pipelines and practices aligned with state and regional workforce needs.
