Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana recently announced that Matt Fortney, a certified public accountant with over 25 years of growth leadership experience, has been hired to lead the organization’s administrative and financial functions.

“We are eager to welcome Matt to this newly created role,” said Kent A. Kramer, president and CEO of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana. “As Goodwill continues to grow, it’s imperative that we’re positioned for success, and Matt’s impressive background and proven leadership track record make him the best person to execute on our strategic vision.”

Fortney brings a diverse set of skills and accomplishments to Goodwill. For the past six years, he has been the Chief Financial Officer with Freeland Group Restaurants, where he developed the growth strategy that led to the company becoming a franchisee of Dave’s Hot Chicken and acquiring 38 Pizza Huts. Some of his major projects included overhauling the company’s technology system, managing its real estate acquisitions, and modernizing its support teams.

Prior to that, he held multiple leadership positions, including Chief Financial Officer, Vice President and General Manager with Group Delphi and Icon Exhibits.

“I’m excited to transition into the not-for-profit sector, especially a social enterprise with the many decades of proven success that Goodwill has,” Fortney said. “The opportunities are endless, and I can't wait to get started."

Fortney earned his accounting degree from Indiana University Fort Wayne in 1999 and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has served on and chaired several boards of directors, including Greater Fort Wayne, Inc., Financial Executives International, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Fort Wayne Business Forum. He and his wife enjoy being outside, sightseeing, and spending time with their three adult children.
