General Contractor Selected for New Community Stroke and Rehab Center

The Pangere Corporation was selected by Community Healthcare System as the General Contractor for the construction of a new Stroke and Rehabilitation Center. Along with its team of 38 subcontractors and its many suppliers, the Pangere team will be constructing a four-story, 129,000- square-foot, multi-specialty facility to be located in Crown Point, Indiana. Pangere will self-perform all the carpentry work and the erection of the building steel structure. The architect for this project is Design Alliance.

“The Community Stroke and Rehabilitation Center houses more than rehabilitation therapies. The outpatient center will offer nearly every outpatient and immediate care medical service a family may need—all at one location,” stated Donald P. Fesko, CEO, Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc.”

The Community Stroke and Rehabilitation Center will feature inpatient rehabilitation treatment, along with physician practices, outpatient services, and immediate care for family health and wellness. A few of the many services offered will be laboratory, mammography, bone density scanning, MRI’s, CT scans, and Ultrasound testing. The Center’s features will also include outpatient therapy, such as physical, occupational and speech therapy.  Inpatient therapies provided include treatment for stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurological conditions, and spinal cord injuries.

The third and fourth floor will feature 40 private rooms, in-patient rehabilitation care, and amenities that include activities rooms/gym rooms with an apartment for activities for daily living. Another unique attribute is a healing garden, which will offer a place where patients and their families can spend time outside enjoying nature. Craig Bolda, Vice President, Acute Rehabilitative Services for Community Healthcare System, commented, “It’s all about patient access and convenience. Community Healthcare System remains dedicated to providing high quality healthcare to residents of Northwest Indiana and this project is another example of our commitment to our service area.”

In addition, The Community Stroke and Rehabilitation Center project will provide the community with the opportunity to employ hundreds of union craft workers.” The community will also benefit from the approximately 100 full-time employee jobs.
