Employee Benefits Firm Investing $6.7M

Apex Benefits Group, an employee benefits consulting and brokerage firm, announced plans to expand its operations in Marion County and create up to 55 new jobs by the end of 2023.

“As a state, we’ve worked hard to create a business climate that promotes growth, encouraging Indiana-based companies like Apex to expand here,” said Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger. “Apex’s mission of providing companies with the strategies to attract and retain employees is crucial to the wellness and quality of life for Hoosiers, and we’re thrilled to see Apex find success and grow in Indiana.”

The Indianapolis-based company, which provides employers with custom multi-year strategies for lowering health care and pharmacy costs and creating cultures of employee wellness, plans to invest nearly $6.7 million to purchase and renovate a 30,000-square-foot office building at 9400 Priority Way West Drive in Indianapolis. With this expansion, the company will create a modern, agile and functional environment that best meets the growth goals of the organization and fosters team collaboration. Renovations are currently underway and scheduled to be complete by April 2020.

Founded in 2003, Apex is a fast-growing, independent organization that employs 65 professionals serving all areas of employee benefits including medical, pharmacy, disability, life and retirement solutions, as well as population health management and benefits communications services, and human resources and compensation consulting. The company plans to hire for a variety of positions in business development, market analysis and client services.

Apex was recently named one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Best Companies Group for the ninth year in a row and also ranked 12th by Business Insurance magazine as a Best Place to Work in Insurance among small businesses.

With a team of actuarial and clinical analysts, health coaches and healthcare benefits strategists, the company provides customized, data-driven solutions by leveraging predictive analytics, wellness management and medical/pharmacy cost-containment strategies to help clients make effective benefits decisions for their employees and create cultures of health and cost savings.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Apex Benefits Group Inc. up to $1.1 million in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired. The city of Indianapolis supports the project at the request of Develop Indy.
