Emarsys Appoints Joanna Milliken as New CEO

Emarsys, an SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) company with its North American headquarters in Indianapolis, announced that Joanna Milliken, Head of SAP CX Marketing, will be stepping into the position of Emarsys CEO to scale Emarsys’ already exceptional growth since becoming an SAP company. Alongside SAP, Emarsys can accelerate its ability to help brands achieve their business results, by leveraging customer data to engage across multiple channels.

With cross-functional experience in scaling sales, service and product, Milliken’s strength is customer success, and she brings a deep understanding of the CX landscape. Hired for her 20 years of industry expertise, including a history of growing technology companies to $2.5B, her personal commitment to the marketer’s success and experience working with the world’s leading brands and CMOs, adds to SAP’s customer-centricity.

The backing of a company the sheer scale of SAP since acquisition has given Emarsys a huge leap forward in its mission to support outcome driven personalization to mid-market businesses, helping marketers prove the marketing department is a revenue center. This comes at a time when organizations are looking to better engage with their customers through personalization, to differentiate and survive.

While retaining world renowned brands such as Puma and Sky, a 10% YOY increase in new customers to date, Emarsys’ growth is now set to accelerate, with SAP’s investment in resources across the business including sales, marketing, services, partnerships, and product. Successful initiatives include the joint placement as leaders in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Personalization Engines.

Emarsys is hiring for its next phase of growth with multiple opportunities in areas of the business such as marketing, sales and partnerships in all corners of the globe including London, Berlin, Paris, Moscow, Vienna, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indianapolis. Emarsys has already been bolstered by new hires including Meghann York, Global Head Product Marketing, Marketing Solutions, Emarsys and at Byron Pitney has joined SAP as Head of Engineering CX Marketing Cloud for North America.

The last year has also seen the promotion of several executive team members, such as Grant Coleman to  Chief Revenue Officer and Courtney Shaffer Lovold, to Head of Revenue, North America, while Alex Timlin’s role at Emarsys has expanded to Head of Solution, Go to Market at SAP.

Alongside this, the company is continuing to innovate, offering new and improved products to help marketers save money and increase effectiveness, with a wealth of new features to its platform having been added in July 2021.

Milliken takes the reins from Ohad Hecht after 12 years at Emarsys. In the five years as CEO, Ohad achieved repeated profitable revenue growth, scaling Emarsys from start-up stage to a successful global business with 16 offices on three continents and through to acquisition by SAP.

Commenting on her future role as Emarsys CEO, Joanna Milliken said: “It has been tremendously exciting to see the evolution of marketing, how marketers used to fight for a seat at the table but are now tasked with impacting the entire customer experience. This isn’t a task, it’s a privilege and I’m super-motivated to partner with marketers on shaping their business to drive real outcomes in this critical time. That is why we at Emarsys are committed to giving power back to the marketer.”

Ohad Hecht, added: “I leave my role as CEO, hugely proud of how far the organization has come, both on its own and in strategic partnership with one of the best-recognized technological powerhouses in SAP. The company has the right culture, one of respect and ambition, to continue to move from strength to strength in the coming years.”
