Coolest AE Projects: Cyprus & Skyline High School

Coolest AE Projects: Cyprus & Skyline High School

Indiana architects and engineers have a ton of cool projects going on, but we wanted to hear about the ones that got them most excited. So, we put out the call to firms throughout the state for their input on the coolest architecture and engineering projects that have taken place in the last few years.

No requirements in terms of project cost, scale, location, or industry. We simply wanted the experts to tell us about the most exciting and interesting projects they’ve recently worked on. Their responses did not disappoint. Check out what Fanning Howey shared with us:

Cyprus & Skyline High School

Construction Partners:

Indianapolis-based Fanning Howey is involved in a combined effort to create two new flagship high schools for Granite School District that are unlike any other school in the state of Utah. The planning and design concepts for Skyline High School and Cyprus High School focus on providing the flexibility to respond to future changes in education.

Early on, Granite leaders indicated their desire for equity between the two buildings, which serve very different communities. Skyline is located in a suburban portion of Salt Lake City, while Cyprus is located in a mining community on the outskirts of the district.

The design utilizes transparency and location throughout to showcase departments and course offerings. Also, the education spaces reflect the real world in how they overlap uses. For example, the Food and Consumer Science Program evolved from traditional instruction to a progressive culinary and career-technical program.
